Yet, for many of us, prayer is a real struggle.

• We get distracted
• We don’t know what to say
• We never seam to have time

And on and on the list goes. If this sound familiar, then fortunately (and unfortunately) you’re not alone. The fortunate side is because there are other christians who have faced the same issues and provided resources to help us work through the same issues too.

Here is a small selection of prayer resources you can access too.

Apps

The Bible app from YouVersion has a simple prayer request feature that can help you see what your connections need prayer for (and let you add your own requests too).

PrayerMate is an iOS and Android app that lets you manage a list of prayers and subscribe to feeds for different churches and parachurch groups too.

Books

There are hundreds of books addressing different aspects of prayer but here are some recent ones that you may find useful.

Course

24/7 prayer have made several courses on prayer that compliment various books members of their team have produced. These include

Practicing the Way have produced a resource for small groups on prayer. You can go through it as a family, with a group of friend or a home group, but it’s not designed to go through alone.

Pray

Pray changes things and we have a God who listens. Pray for the safety of those in Ukraine, for the leaders of every country to make wise decisions.

We have a Facebook group where you can stay up with prayer requests as members post them.

We are proud to be a church with members from both Ukraine and Russia. Our Christian brotherhood compels us to help those in need and with the conflict on our boarder, we are more able than many to offer hands on help.

While there are many groups working in Ukraine and here in Poland which are all worthy of your support and listed below, first we’d like to recommend our own work which is providing support to Church’s in Ukraine as well as many who have reached Krakow.

Bible reading plans

Many of the apps above have their own Bible reading plans built in, but you might want a separate plan or perhaps even a paper plan to print out. Here are a few options

The Bible project provides a downloadable bible reading plan that includes suggested videos to watch at the same time. They also have an app coming out soon which may provide more options too.

You can get a daily email with a bible reading based on one of a selection of different bible reading plans. Just click the link and find the right one for you

The Bible Reading Plan Generator

This handy web app from John Dyer lets you make a custom Bible reading plan with options for the way you read through (chronological, books in order, OT and NT each day etc) which days you read on, when you start, how many books to read…basically, a lot.

Tracking rather than planning

A different approach I’ve seen is to track what you read rather than plan what you should read. This can be very useful for people who fall into guilt and legalism over reading plans.
There are apps you can download and beautiful pdfs you can pay for, but here is a free PDF from Paper Haven.

What is advent?

Advent is the time of the year the church remembers the expectation of Christ’s coming and of his coming again. In more liturgical church calendars, It starts with the fourth Sunday before Christmas but many people think of it as starting on the first of December.

Read through a gospel

if you are unsure what to read, then journeying through a gospel is a great option. Any one will reveal Christ and build expectation of his return.

Hello lovely people!

Happy New Year. May we all get to know Christ in a fresh way this coming year and may it be a year of strength, joy and peace as we do all we can to serve Him.

Regarding our Sunday meetings, the new government regulations mean that our hotel had to close. This is also the case for all other possible venues. Our meetings will be online only via our YouTube channel – jezuskrakow.

We hope that it will only be for the next 3 Sundays. In the meantime, please continue to make an effort to stay in touch with us and each other – it is very important in these strange days.

• The maximum number of people allowed in the hall is 80 45. (This should not be a problem, as some people will still be staying at home, but it is best to be early.)
• Wear a mask at all times.
• Keep a distance of 2m away from people you do not live with. (Obviously, there is no shaking hands, touching or hugging.)
• Children must also maintain social distancing. (This is the responsibility of the parents.)

Please note that even though your faith might be “strong”, it is good to respect the “weak” faith of others (Rom 14). Please do not force your attitude upon others and cause them to leave or stay away from the meeting. We ask everyone who attends to respect others in the church, the hotel and the government. 

We will be streaming the meeting online (details to follow later in the week). If you have concerns over the virus, please do not come to the face to face meetings, but join us online. Also, if you feel unable to maintain the above restrictions, please do not come to the hotel meetings for now. We are really pleased that we can worship and meet face-to-face again!

He is the King, who has authority over all. He alone defeated death, together with all sickness, depression, loneliness, lies and insults. His crown is a symbol of victory and life – not fear and death like the virus. Every time I hear or read “corona” I will praise the Lord with all my soul and trust only in Him.
